Yan Zheng

I am native in Chinese.    I completed my undergraduate degree in Beijing before moving to the U.S.   I have been teaching introductory Chinese (Grade 1 or 2) in Hope Chinese School for four years .  I am also a mother of two kids, who are currently in Grade 1 and 5 of Hope Chinese School, so I understand the difficulty of introducing a second language in an English environment.  Bilingual Class is tailored to students without any Chinese experience, and we use English as the main teaching language.  During my class, I encourage the students to speak, read, and write in Chinese.  I also use games/tools such as quizlet, and Kahoot to expand their vocabulary and elicit their interest in Chinese.  

我在中国长大，我的母语是中文。我在北京完成学士学位后来到美国。这是我第四年在希望中文学校带小朋友入门中文。我自己也有两个孩子在中文学校，所以我理解家中的坚持和通常会遇到的困难。双语课程主要针对没有中文基础，听不懂中文的小朋友，日常的授课是用英文交流的。但是在课堂上，我鼓励小朋友们听，说，读，和写，帮他们打下扎实的基础。课堂上我们也会使用quizlet或者kahoot来拓宽他们的词汇并且激发他们学习的兴趣。
